This edition of Reflections features articles on two major causes of excess mortality. The first article, which is entitled "Advances in Cancer", is written by Dr. Oscar Cartaya, who discusses in great detail the newest concepts of the understanding and detection of cancer. This ‘forward-thinking’ approach will hopefully lead to breakthroughs in the early detection and treatment of malignancies. 

Our second article has been contributed by Dr. Paul Davis, who is RGA’s Chief Regional Medical Director in Asia-Pacific. This article, entitled "Insights on Heart Failure" is his first contribution to ReFlections.  He shares his extensive clinical and insurance knowledge with us regarding this increasingly diagnosed heart condition, as it applies to life and disability applications and claims.
